The gateway to the face...Methods on How To Hide Receding Hairline...
If you've read my blog before you know how strongly I feel about my hairline...Originally it seemed like my androgenic alopecia was just causing a widening of my part.... But about two years ago I noticed that my hairline had really started to thin out. THE HORROR!
This prompted me to kick my butt into gear and get serious about my hair loss treatment regimen. I searched for methods to use beyond just my 5% minoxidil foam and I have managed to reqrow quite a bit. If you're interested in the treatments I've used over the past year that really bolstered my hair regrowth then check out my e-Book linked HERE.
However, this post will not be focusing on hair loss treatments. If you're interested in that type of content check the link HERE to view my other posts in this area. Herein we will focus on how to hide receding hairline. Drumroll please!
1. How to Hide Receding Hairline: Clip-On Bangs
I know what you're thinking.... But Riley, I'm not a "bang" kind of girl. That's totally fair... I wasn't either. But then I tried it out and it was a total game changer. If you're not convinced don't worry because this is just method one. But if you're still with me...Here we go...
I think I first became open minded to bangs with an updo when I saw the photos of Kendall Jenner on the red carpet at the American Music Awards. If you're not familiar with the hairstyle I'm talking about I've linked a photo you can view HERE. (Just scroll down a little to the 3rd pic... I have no idea how copyright works with these kinds of photos otherwise I would've just posted it...Sorry. Amateur hour lol.)
Anyways... I loved this wispy bang paired with her sleek top knot. So I thought to myself... Well why not me?
How I achieved this look: I used these human hair bangs from Amazon linked HERE and in the image below. I've also bought some human hair bangs from The Hair Shop for much more money but the amazon ones are actually my favorite and way way less expensive. If you want to see the different types of human hair bangs The Hair Shop offers I've linked their page HERE. The one I own is "the bang."
When I was due for a haircut I took both of these bangs to my hair stylist to do a quick trim and together we placed them exactly where I would want them on my head so she could figure out how short to trim them...But if you are skilled like that and can do it yourself then more power to you!
This is me with the amazon bangs in full effect...
Step 1. When my hair is damp I add my favorite hair thickening cream by Bumble & Bumble linked HERE and pull my hair back into a ponytail.
Step 2. I have the tiniest ponytail. Can I even call it that? It'smore like a rat tail lol. Seriously. So in order for me to achieve this modern looking top knot I use a human hair scrunchy that I've linked HERE and below. I wrap this human hair scrunchy around my ponytail a few times. Then I back comb my own ponytail a little to give it volume and then twist my own hair around the human hair scrunchy and secure it with bobby pins to achieve the top knot.
Step 3. Add those bangs. To make it look realistic I let the front of the bun hide the start of the bangs. You can see in the step by step photo above how far back the bangs are clipped on the head... This way the front of the bun is concealing where you'd clip the bangs. In my opinion this trick makes it look way more realistic.
Step 4. Check you out... Get it girl!
